Its facinating looking back at all those different evolutions of windows. I have work on and supported them for years. I agree with you, I think Vista has the potential to be one of the bests. This is coming from a person who (normally) fancies Linux above Microsoft products.

Really good information about older Microsoft OS. First time, I bought 386 computer with older DOS which used to take 10 mins to load to c prompt. And Slowly, I wen to upgrading system which now boots vista in less than 1 mins.

Nice sum up.

The Blue Screen of Death was my nightmare last year. My laptop run on Win XP and it was overheating every time I turned it on. After a minutes or so, the Blue Screen of Death will appear and shut down the entire thing. It was driving me nuts. I got it fixed it hasn’t appeared anymore, and I hope not, at least not until I can afford a new one.

I can honestly say i remember using everyone of those systems like it was yesterday. Before web design my background was in technical so i suppose when you tweak them day in day out it kind of stains your brain….

Gonna leave vista alone for another 6 months at least and wait till its a little more stable on its feet… a bit like XP in the early days.

Vista best OS ? Seem you didn’t have one !
My sister has Vista on her PC (which is better than my laptop) and still it runs at least 3 times slower. Also it causes numerous problems everywhere.
I’d say it’s nearly as bad (if not more) than Windows Me. I’m definitely staying with XP until Windows Seven or switching to an Hackintosh.
