Currently Reading: The Perfect Simple Office for the Web Designer

Recently I have been setting myself up as a Freelance Web Designer/developer, and I’ve been looking at were in the house I could setup my office/work station. Somewhere secluded and quiet, with all my hardware at arms reach.
I have also been planning a new laptop, something with a reasonable price and all the extra mod cons my small budget would allow. (I eventually settled for a 17″ Toshiba, I’m very happy with it, no probs with Vista either…yet).
I allowed my imagination to wander and had a look for things based on having 10 times my budget. Wishful thinking, I know but it was fun.
Based on my needs, below are the two things I would love to have in my office. Beyond these two things I can’t think what else I would need.

The Chair (La-Z-Boy E-cliner)

eclinerI know this is over 6 years old, but there isn’t a more comfortable looking chair, with the added extras of having two armrests that open up. On the one side a keyboard folds out and on the other there is a drinks holder and plenty of space for anything else you can think of. Inside the tray table arm, it has outlets for power (for a coffee machine?), phone, and DSL (for your laptop).
You could just imagine sitting back and working, couldn’t you.
Price is a whopping $1299, mind you.

The Laptop (Intel Metro)

Intel MetroSome of the new laptops just look amazing, I have had a look at many different concept laptops, a lot of cool laptops or some that are feature rich . It was very hard to choose one. It could have been the new super thin Mac laptop or even the wooden ASUS, instead I chose the new Intel Metro. It is only 0.7inches thick and weighs about the same as a half dozen comics and it is a lot cooler than any Mac you can find.

Are you going to purchase that laptop? Or you already did?

I wish I could afford it. I bought a much lower spec Toshiba. (Which is great, to be honest).

What’s the suggested retail price on the laptop? That thing looks awesome. I’m not sure if this is the web designer setup I would choose, but the chair sure looks comfortable.

Hey good info about such crazy gizmo’s. But still such luxury is out of my reach as they are too expensive. So will have to wait till my fev companies slashes the rates of tech gizmo’s.
