ESPN World Cup Posters

World Cup excitement is rising. Recently we came across (via Business Insider) the work of Brazilian artist Cristiano Siqueira who was hired by ESPN to design posters for all of the national teams that would be participating in 2014’s Brazilian world cup. And he simply nailed it.

Combining his natural design-style and love of football, Siqueira has created some of the most intense and beautiful posters for each team. Each and every poster is unique in its own regard with respect to design and being culturally sensitive to each country.

These posters depict the growing anticipation of fans from around the world that are desperately waiting for the kick off. Are you one of those fans? Tell us in the comments section below and don’t forget to tell us which is your favourite poster!

  • Great illustrations but wtf “The Yanks” …..fail USA poster. :(

Great illustrations, unfortunately less know-how about meanings.
    – The German one would be misunderstood as fascist (Font/Word Combination) and never call their team “Die Mannschaft”
    – The Americans would never call themselves “The Yanks”
    – The Croats would not really appreciate having an cyrillica “A” letter in their headline.
In fact, only the Serbs and Macedonians use this type of letter at the Western Balkans.

You might be right about the other meanings, but I think “The Yanks” is perfectly acceptable for the USA. We sing “Oh when the Yanks go marching in” and some other chants calling ourselves (our team) “The Yanks”.

Where the hell is Argentina? Awesome posters BTW!
