I have recently developed a WordPress plugin for FancyBox.

It’s jQuery based, works exactly the same as the original however you can define some of the variables from an admin panel.

    Check it out at,

I am trying to figure out what plugin for the main image on this page is…
    http://ourworld.unu.edu/en/

I looked through the javascript and they do have lightbox installed. I want to create a header just like this one, with the clickable links to take to the next image like on a lot of sites… Any ideas?

  • Aargh

It looks like none of these work with the newest version of WordPress 2.8.4. Are there any image galleries that do?

  • http://www.elephantseeselephant.com Elephant

Same problem here, are there plugins that work with 2.8.4? Since there’s a worm making it’s way into older versions….

I’m running wordpress 2.8.6 and I used the jQuery Lightbox For Native Galleries for this new site I built in wordpress: http://hudsonvalleybarnhouse.com. It seems to be working great so far. If you’re having issues with these plugins, try upgrading your version of wordpress.

I’ve been looking all over the web for a way to add a single image to post that will link to a Lightbox Gallery of several photos when clicked.

    Is this possible?

    • Keith

      Hi Dan,

Did you ever find an answer to this proble? I’ve already look at Nextgen but with no luck.

You missed Colorbox, which I use on all my WordPress websites because it allows a lot more customization and comes with a bunch of themes out of the box. I’ve gone through a lot of lightbox-esque scripts and this is the best I’ve found for WordPress. See:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jquery-colorbox/

    Pretty good list otherwise!

Thank you Ændrew for suggesting Jquery Colorbox!!! I’ve been searching and trying a lot of lightbox and fancybox WordPress plugins. Jquery Colorbox is the best in terms of flexibility and implementation! No more searching.

You might want to add my new jQuery Facebook gallery to the list. It’s cool but not flash, so google will index your captions (and keywords with them)

Mine is not lightbox, but it goes fullscreen by the same principle, no lightbox required, and even takes the full-window, which is more than lightbox (which leaves a black border just to look fancy with all your site darkened around it).

You can stop uploading your photos to WordPress and just use your own existing Facebook Albums!
