About the Book: WordPress 3 Site Blueprints

WordPress 3 Site BlueprintsWhile some books merely talk about the capabilities of WordPress in general and leave you to figure out how they apply to your situation, WordPress 3 Site Blueprints takes a different approach. The first chapter will show you how to migrate from an existing static website to a WordPress blog. Each of the other chapters is devoted to the construction of a different type of site that can be created with WordPress and the right combination of themes and/or plugins. As you follow along, you will learn by doing because each of these nine chapters shows you how to build a WordPress-powered site from start to finish. That means that, by the time you reach the end of every chapter, you will have a fully-functional site online.

You can also download a sample chapter, bly clicking here: Chapter No.4 “Project 4: Building a Local Classified Ads Website”.

Although I’m an absolute ‘Newby’ in this mobile form of communication, I can see the enormous power it has in the near future. As a graphics designer I feel the need to grab the opportunity to use WordPress as this could/will become the new tool and standard for publishing and communicating. To really comprehend what WordPress is all about, I need to go through its blueprints, hence my comment here, written on my HTC using Android. Really up-to-date, don’t you think? RK

WordPress, more than any other technology to date, has contributed to my life and my freedom in a way I could never have expected.

I’m thrilled to be learning more everyday!

I love WordPress because it embodies the spirit of open sourcery. Apple have the tag line “There’s an app for that”, WordPress in our office has the tag line “There’s a plugin for that!”

I love WordPress because I am a displaced construction worker who was “retrained” as a graphic designer. The amount of schooling offered by workers comp wasn’t enough for me to competitively search for a decent job in the industry. The class offered no web-design instructions. With WordPress I have been able to design websites to help pay the bills. I started off with the WYSIWYG, and I have been slowly “weening” myself from it and learning HTML/CSS. I need the book, knowledge is POWER!

WordPress, how I love thee. Let me count the ways:

    1. Ease of Use – easy to install, easy to upgrade, easy to theme, easy to use.

    2. Bountiful Resources – tutorials, plugins, themes, code snippets, and so much more.

    3. Infinitely Flexible – (ok, maybe not infinitely) blogging, “static” websites, article repository, photo blogs, video blogs, brochure sites, memberships sites, e-commerce, portfolios, online resumes, social networking; so many ways to to use it.

    4. Multimedia – photos, written content, streaming audio, streaming video, photo slideshows, media downloads, ebooks, articles.

    5. User Friendly – beginners can use it without being a programmer, power users can tweak to their heart’s content, and everyone in between can find their comfort zone.

But why I really love WordPress? All it takes is some imagination to find the perfect way to use WordPress for my needs!

I touched on WordPress before for a minor project and really liked the robustness and flexibility of it and at the same time the simplicity and straightforwardness of customizing it for my specific needs. A few years later, I’m starting to work with WordPress again, first for my personal sites, and later for some client works. Winning this e-book will be a perfect timing as I really need as much info as I can have regarding WordPress, especially with the release of its latest version.

We have always gone the route of outsourcing our web design for the last 12 years. Just 2 months ago I ran across WordPress through a business contact. I had no idea about the possibilities beyond “just blogging”…they are infinite! I would like to see how this book could help us change how we design our sites, how to decrease design time and costs. Thanks for the opportunity!
