20 Amazing Examples of Conformal Photography. How do they do this?
I have read in various places that the images are manipulated with Photoshop, I am not sure. Either way it is in an amazing technique.
If anyone knows post it in the comments.

Definition for Conformal Mapping from Wikipedia: “(mathematics) A mapping, between points of one coordinate system and another, in which the angles of intersection between pairs of curves are preserved”. (I am still none the wiser!)

like a circle in a spiral like a wheel within a wheel, never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.

There are two things to consider here in regards to your comment on the length of time it takes to complete the effect:

    1. Does the image possess an aesthetic appeal that pleases the eye with attention to composition?

    2. Is the art subject an original idea or done in a new way and requires at least an infinitesimal amount of skill?

The answers to the two preceding questions are “yes”.

That shiznit’s the bomb, and your lame punk ass self didn’t think of it first. Stop playa hatin’ and stfu.

They’re made using a new tool in Photoshop CS4. Really simple and though cool, anyone can do it.

Instead of posting links that some readers might perceive as “just” explaining the Droste effect, it might be worthwhile to add that http://www.subblue.com/projects/droste actually contains a downloadable Photoshop PixelBender-based plugin that allows you to easily create the images shown above (Photoshop CS4 is needed to install the PixelBender toolkit, which is required for the plugin). I saw this somewhere else a couple of weeks ago and was generally amazed at the power that PixelBender grants you by offloading complex calculations like the ones needed for this effect to the GPU.

  24. So Easy a Caveman Can Do It? on January 8, 2009 7:30 am

I love the eunuchs who proclaim that anyone can do it, and yet they are unable to produce an interesting image themselves. Creating the distortion is pretty easy…coming up with an image that’s interesting as output is considerably more difficult. And, FWIW, most of these images were done with MathMap scripts, not Photoshop. PixelBlender can replicate this, but CS4 didn’t have it first and these images predate CS4.

Get a clue next time, haters, and put up or shut up.
