WordPress 3.4 “Green” Released

Few days back, WordPress came up with its latest stable release – WordPress 3.4 – named “Green” after the guitarist Grant Green.

Version 3.4 comes with several new features, both major and minor. For a start, we now have greater freedom when customizing backgrounds and headers. You can now make the header images flexible in terms of width and height, so there is more scope for innovation when customizing your website.

Plus, there is a Live Theme Customizer which lets you preview changes made to the theme in real-time. For instance, you can preview different colors, backgrounds and header images before you actually apply any of them to your blog. Check this video:

For the Twitter-lovers among us, WP 3.4 comes with a special treat. If you wish to display a screenshot of your latest tweet, just grab the URL and paste it in a post. WordPress will take care of the rest.

Apart from the above, there have been certain changes to captions, improvements in internationalization support, and so on.

If you are a developer, WordPress 3.4 has not forgotten you! You have improvements in XML-RPC, and enhanced performance tweaks for WP_Query, coupled with custom header APIs. You should check out the Changelog as well.
