Currently, two of the most popular web design trends are: taking the minimal approach, which we will look at next week, and the use of clever and creative typography. Today we focus on typography.
Not only do we showcase typography in the classic sense, but also illustrate that the combination of web design and great typography can be used effectively, along with clever color selection, and create usable web sites thats base design is dominated by text, for either navigation, a good headline, a logo or even used for the entire content.
As the selection below illustrates there are no limitation to using typography within web design.
Below you will find 50 varied styles and examples of creative and effective typography within web design.

Some lovely examples but surprised you missed out: http://jontangerine.com/

If you’re not familiar with it, start by checking-out the logo – it’s all CSS

Thanks for the link to Filmaster. There is an English version on the website as well at http://filmaster.com (you linked to the Polish one).
If you are interested in other design by Helen, go to her website http://helen.pl – some of the examples are even better than Filmaster :)

I recently just took a turning point with wordpress and now have a full working knowledge of making a design from scratch and then adding all the wordpress functionality. And I have to say I have been hearing the Begees in the background as I walk these days, ahem at least up to the point of seeing this inspirada round up.

I am now going to take a look at what I have done and try and bring up the typography side to the level it needs to be.

Thanks for the kick in the but, I’m glad I don’t hear the Begees when I walk :-P

    Thanks and Regards

Nice compilation of sites with some great type examples. I love the hand drawn 365 site. It’s great to see when art and design collide with the interweb. :) I think we are going to see more of this ‘tactile’ style on the web.

Trends are made from seeing too much of the last trend. With these examples, I feel like I’m looking at the heyday of beautiful print design. When the web started, we were sick of the look of printed pages. We wanted something dynamic and futuristic, even catastrophic (Enter David Carson). Now the recession hit, we’re at war, the world seems chaotic enough and we’re back to the stately, magnificent art of the letter, a reminder of simpler, nobler times. David Carson, don’t go anywhere, we’ll need you again in few years.
